Senior Sales Consultant

Basic Salary + Commission

Location: This is a hybrid role with at least two to three office days a month. WFH at other times is fully supported.

Beyond Retail is an award-winning multi-website online retailer offering bathroom, kitchen and heating products to Britain’s homeowners and tradespeople. Over 8 million people visit our websites each year, and we’re on a mission to help create well-designed homes that look great, feel special, and have a positive impact on people's everyday lives.

We’ve only just turned 10 years old, and in that time we’ve accelerated from zero to £50m/year revenue, won local and national awards, and grown to 170-plus people. Our three websites - Drench, Tap Warehouse and Only Radiators - are growing from strength to strength and we’re looking for a Senior Sales Consultant who will help us to continue our growth journey. 

We’re seeking an ambitious and proactive Senior Sales Consultant to help us take our Retail Sales team’s performance to new heights. While we’re not a high-performance sales team yet, this role is all about leading that transformation. As a Senior Sales Consultant, you’ll play a vital role in shaping how we deliver results and ensure customers have a seamless journey. Your expertise will be key in identifying opportunities, closing deals, and creating processes that enable sustainable growth. You’ll also be passionate about mentoring others, sharing your knowledge & skills and helping build a team that’s ready to achieve great things together.

What You’ll Be Doing

Building Sales Performance

  • Lead the way in helping us establish a stronger, more consistent sales function.
  • Spot opportunities to upsell and cross-sell, ensuring customers receive value while helping the business achieve its goals.
  • Confidently handle leads and guide customers toward the right solutions, working to improve our conversion rates steadily.
  • Develop repeatable sales processes that set the foundation for scalable growth.

Lead Customer-Centric Sales Efforts

  • Provide expert guidance to customers, focusing on helping them make informed decisions that meet their needs.
  • Understand that excellent service supports sales: build trust, resolve queries quickly, and create a seamless experience.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments ( Warehouse and Management) to deliver a joined-up approach for every customer.

Support Team Development

  • Mentor less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and sales techniques to build confidence and skills.
  • Create a supportive culture where learning and improvement are celebrated.
  • Act as a role model, setting the standard for professionalism, customer focus, and sales expertise.

Help Shape Our Strategy

  • Work closely with leadership to identify areas of opportunity, including gaps in our current sales and customer interactions approach.
  • Analyse data to refine processes and create strategies to improve customer satisfaction and sales performance.
  • Contribute to developing training initiatives that will strengthen the team as we grow.

What You Bring to the Table

We’re looking for someone who has the experience, vision, and determination to help us achieve our potential:

Sales Expertise

  • A proven track record in sales (5+ years), with experience building strong customer relationships and delivering results.
  • Confidence in handling a variety of leads, including opportunities that need nurturing to maximise their potential.
  • A practical approach to balancing the “soft skills” of relationship-building with the focus needed to close deals.

Leadership Skills

  • Previous experience mentoring or coaching team members, with a passion for helping others grow.
  • A collaborative mindset: you’ll understand that success comes from working together, sharing ideas, and building on strengths.

Customer-First Thinking

  • A customer-focused approach, where great service is a key part of driving sales and building loyalty.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to different customer needs and challenges.

Practical and Proactive

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver results in a growing, fast-changing environment.
  • Confident using tools like CRM systems to track performance, manage leads, and identify trends.

  • Flexible working hours - we work 40 hours per week typically starting and finishing between 8 am and 9 pm Mon -Fri, Saturdays 9 am - 5 pm
